Add a form to your Joomla site
Works through the script embed. Checked on Joomla 6.2.0, November 2026. No extension needed.
Your form goes in an article, or in a custom module if it should show on several pages. Who saves it matters most here, since Joomla removes scripts for everyone but Super Users by default.
Before you start
Publish your form, then on the Publish tab, choose Embed and copy the code. It looks like this, with your own form’s address:
<script
src="https://forms.formerie.com/embed.js"
data-formerie-form="fm_t77txbvg43nmar"
></script>You need a Super User account. See what goes wrong for other groups.
Add it to an article
- Go to Content, then Articles, and choose New, or open an article.
- Fill in Title.
- Under Article Text, choose Toggle Editor to get a plain text box, and paste your code.
- Choose Toggle Editor again.
- Choose Save & Close.
The editor may wrap the tag in a paragraph. That’s fine, and the form still draws.
Or show it on several pages
- Go to Content, then Site Modules, and choose New, then Custom.
- Fill in Title, and paste your code as in the steps above, with Toggle Editor.
- Choose a Position from your template, such as
sidebar-right. - On the Menu Assignment tab, choose where it shows, such as On all pages.
- Choose Save & Close.
Check it arrived
Open the page while signed out, fill out the form and submit it. It says it was received, and the answers show on the form’s Submissions tab.
That’s a real submission, so your recipients get the email. On your own computer, at an address with a port such as http://localhost:8080, it’s stored as a test instead, and the form says so. To try the form on any other address
without reaching them, use a try link.
What can go wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The article is empty after saving | A Manager, or someone else who isn’t a Super User, saved it. Joomla’s default text filters remove the script | Have a Super User save it, or change the group under Text Filters in Global Configuration |
| The module saved, and nothing shows | It has no Position, or the page isn’t in Menu Assignment | Set both |
Limits
- It needs JavaScript in the visitor’s browser.
- Your template’s styles don’t reach the form. Change its look in Formerie.
- A form has one language. For a second language, make a second form, and use it in that language’s article or module.
- This was checked with the Cassiopeia template and the TinyMCE editor. Other editors, and security extensions that filter output, weren’t checked.
Joomla is a trademark of its owner. Formerie isn’t affiliated with it.
